Wife blames contractor for husband's death

GALVESTON — A Galveston County woman is suing a Texas City contractor, alleging its negligence caused the death of her husband. 

Kimberlynne Schwamb, individually and as next friend of her children K.A.S. and K.E.S., minors, filed a lawsuit Aug. 3 in Galveston County District Court against Piling Inc., alleging gross negligence in failing to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, on June 27, her husband, Kevin Jacob Schwamb, while working for Piling at a Dow Chemical facility in Lake Jackson, was struck by a piece of heavy metal, causing crushing injuries to his body that led to his death June 29. 

The plaintiff alleges Piling failed to properly train and supervise Kevin Schwamb and failed to provide safe equipment.

The Schamb family seeks a trial by jury. monetary relief of more than  $1 million, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of suit and all relief to which they may show themselves justly entitled.
