BEAUMONT – A number of lawyers from a Beaumont-based law firm were named The Best Lawyers In America.
A total of 13 attorneys at Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP were given The Best Lawyers in America honor. The Best Lawyers in America award recognizes the legal profession's “best” by ranking attorneys in a variety of practice fields. It uses a peer-review process to name the attorneys through surveys submitted by thousands of lawyers across the U.S.
Provost Umphrey had a significant number of attorneys named this year, including its founder Walter Umphrey. This is the 25th year he has received the honor. The firm also had every equity partner honored for 2017.
Named as an honoree for The Best Lawyers in America for 2017 was D’Juana Parks. Parks was recognized for her plaintiffs’ personal injury cases. She also was named in 2015 to 2016.
Also named as The Best Lawyers in America for the firm were partners Bryan O. Blevins Jr., Edward Fisher, Joe J. Fisher II, James E. Payne and David P. Wilson. Blevins specializes in personal injury law. Fisher focuses on personal injury litigation. Fisher II practices personal injury law. Payne is a personal injury attorney and Wilson also specializes in personal injury law. All five attorneys are equity partners in Provost Umphrey.
The firm’s attorney’s Aaryn K. Giblin and Colin D. Moore were also named as The Best Lawyers In America. Both Giblin and Moore were recognized for their work in product liability litigation. Giblin was named Southeast Texas Lawyer of the Year for Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs by Best Lawyers in America in 2015. Moore was named to the Texas Rising Star list from 2007 and 2015, as one of the top up-and-coming attorneys in Texas.
Also honored by The Best Lawyers in America from Provost Umphrey was attorney Christopher T. Kirchmer. Kirchmer was recognized for his representation of plaintiffs in mass tort litigation, class actions and personal injury and product liability litigation. He specializes in pharmaceutical and medical device product liability at the firm.
Both Matthew C. Matheny and Darren L. Brown were named as The Best Lawyers in America at Provost Umphrey. Matheny was named because of his work on behalf of plaintiffs in mass tort litigation, class actions and personal injury litigation. He was also named as a Texas Rising Star in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Brown was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for his work for plaintiffs in personal injury and product liability litigation.
Attorney J. Keith Hyde was also honored by The Best Lawyers in America. Hyde was named because of his work in personal injury cases for plaintiffs. Hyde was also named as a Texas Super Lawyer in 2009 and has been named every year since.
