GALVESTON — A Louisiana man is suing two energy companies, alleging their negligence caused him to suffer injuries.

Larry Rogers Jr. filed a lawsuit Aug. 9 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Freeport-McMoran Exploration & Production LLC, and Freeport-McMoran Oil & Gas LLC, alleging negligence in failing to protect workers.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 9, 2015, Rogers was employed by The Nacher Corporation, working as a painter/blaster on the defendants' Holstein platform rig in the Gulf of Mexico. The suit says he tripped and fell on tarp covering equipment on the platform.

The fall, the lawsuit states, caused him to sustain injuries, pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost earnings, disfigurement and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly supervise the details of the procedures of work being performed on the rig and failed to provide a safe place to work.

Rogers seeks a trial by jury, damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus attorney fees and court costs, pre- and post-judgment interest, and all other relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by attorney Marcus R. Spagnoletti of Spagnoletti & Co. in Houston.
