Harris County motorist blames Houston for crash

Car accident 41

HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing the city of Houston, alleging negligence caused a vehicle crash that injured the plaintiff.

Trinia Garner of Houston filed a lawsuit Aug. 9 in Harris County District Court against the city of Houston,  alleging Houston employee Jerry Van Fielder violated the requirements of the Texas Transportation Code.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 16, 2015, Garner was driving a 2012 Ford Focus east on the 2300 block of Leeland Street when Fielder collided with her vehicle. The crash, the suit says, caused Garner to sustain severe injuries that resulted in physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the city of Houston failed to properly maintain, inspect and repair the city vehicle, and Fielder recklessly disregarded the safety of others and failed to yield right of way at a stop sign.

Garner seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by attorneys Kraig L. Rushing and Ben Bronston of Bronston Legal PC in Houston.
