HOUSTON — Nineteen oilfield workers are suing a Hempstead energy company, alleging failure to pay overtime wages.
The plaintiffs filed a lawsuit Aug. 9 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Refinery Specialties Inc., alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs all worked for more than 40 hours a week but they were denied overtime pay. They were paid a hybrid base salary and job bonuses, the suit says.
The plaintiffs allege Refinery Specialties failed to compensate them for work of more than 40 hours per week at rates no less than one and one-half times their regular rates, as required by FLSA.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury, unpaid back wages, court costs, attorney fees, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief deemed appropriate.
