BEAUMONT — An Orange County patient is suing a Beaumont hospital, alleging its negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Evelton Myers of Vidor, Texas, filed a lawsuit Aug. 9 in Jefferson County District Court against Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, alleging negligence in failing to provide proper and safe environment.

According to the complaint, on June 1, 2014, Myers was a patient at Christus St. Elizabeth being treated for various illnesses and was unable to stand or walk. During the course of transferring him to or from a bed, the suit says, the defendant's caregivers dropped Myers to the floor causing serious injuries.

The plaintiff alleges Christus St. Elizabeth failed to exercise ordinary care in the treatment of Myers' condition, failed to provide adequate personnel and failed to provide prompt testing to render an appropriate diagnosis.

Myers seeks trial by jury, compensation in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, costs of court and all other relief to which he is justly entitled. He is represented by attorney David Dies of Dies & Parkhurst LLP in Orange.
