Orange County woman blames parking lot owner for injuries

Slip02

BEAUMONT — An Orange County woman is suing a Beaumont parking lot owner, alleging its negligence caused her to trip on a signpost.

Gina Allen filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in Jefferson County District Court against Beaumont Tower Venture Ltd., alleging negligence in failing to ensure that its premises did not present a danger.

According to the complaint, on May 4, Allen attended a case conference meeting inside the place of her employment. After the meeting, the suit says, Allen was walking in a parking lot at 2583 Calder Ave., Beaumont, when she tripped on a metal signpost causing her to fall to the ground and sustain injuries and damages.

The lawsuit states Allen sustained pain, mental anguish, medical expenses and lost earnings. The plaintiff alleges Beaumont Tower Venture failed to inspect and maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition, failed to place adequate warning signs and failed to provide a cure.

Allen seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of suit and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by attorney Christopher S. Smith of Smith Law Firm PLLC in Orange.
