HOUSTON — A Louisiana rig worker is suing a gas exploration company, alleging the defendant's negligence cause the plaintiff to suffer injuries.
Jermaine Verdin filed a complaint Aug. 30 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Anadarko Petroleum Corporation alleging, negligence in failing to exercise reasonable care to ensure work by contractors at the work site was done in a safe and prudent manner.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 31, 2015, Verdin was employed as a rigger for Dolphin Services, working aboard the defendant's Anadarko’s Heidelberg spar platform in the Gulf of Mexico. The suit says he was seriously injured while manually lifting metal plating in adverse weather conditions in the gulf.
The lawsuit states Verdin sustained pain and suffering, medical care and treatment, plus monetary losses. The plaintiff alleges Anadarko Petroleum Corporation failed to maintain the platform in a reasonably safe condition free from hazards.
Verdin seeks trial by jury, damages exceeding the jurisdictional limits of the court, pre- and post-judgment interest, punitive damages, attorney fees, costs of suit and all other relief. He is represented by attorneys Marcus R. Spagnoletti and Mary Holmesly of Spagnoletti & Co. in Houston.
