GALVESTON — A Matagorda County pipefitter is suing a Texas construction company, alleging disability discrimination and wrongful termination.

Edward Soliz filed a lawsuit Sept. 14 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Zachry Holdings Inc., doing business as Zachry Industrial Inc. alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act.

According to the complaint, Zachry made Soliz, an office assistant, suffer harassment and disciplinary actions because of his request for an accommodation as a handicapped worker. The suit says Soliz also was subjected to adverse employment treatment and was terminated Sept. 21, 2015.

The plaintiff alleges Zachry Industrial discriminated against him because of his disability, failed to provide reasonable accommodation and terminated his employment in retaliation for his request for a reasonable accommodation.

Soliz seeks trial by jury, back pay, compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorney and expert fees, costs of suit, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Kalandra N. Wheeler and Robert J. Wiley of Rob Wiley PC in Dallas.
