BEAUMONT — A pipefitter is suing multiple Texas companies that manufactured trichloroethylene products, alleging their negligence led to the plaintiff contracting a disease.

Rodney Mansfield filed a lawsuit Sept. 29 in Jefferson County District Court against CRC Industries Inc., Able Fastener Inc., Brance Krachy Co., Inc., Chevron USA, et al alleging they negligently manufactured products containing a carcinogenic chemical.

According to the complaint, during his work with defendants, Mansfield was exposed to the carcinogenic chemical, trichloroethylene. As a result of his exposure to trichloroethylene, the suit says, Mansfield sustained permanent deadly injuries in the form of renal cell carcinoma that led to mental anguish, physical pain and suffering, disfigurement, loss of consortium and loss of companionship and society.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate warning or instructions of the hazards associated with the exposure to trichloroethylene and failed to utilize or sell safer alternative products.

Mansfield seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages as the evidence shows at trial, costs of court, pre-judgment interest and all other relief. He is represented by attorney Darren L. Brown of Provost Umphrey in Beaumont.
