Trenton couple accuses Honda of manufacturing defect

Car accident 28

SHERMAN — A Trenton couple is suing Honda, alleging a manufacturing defect led to injuries for the wife in a crash.

Teresa Dockery and Tony Dockery filed a lawsuit Oct. 5 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against American Honda Motor Co., Inc., and Honda Motor Company, Ltd. alleging failure to provide a crashworthy vehicle.

According to the complaint, on March 14, 2015, Teresa Dockery was driving in a 2015 Acura RDX when she was struck by a vehicle that had lost control. Despite being properly seated and wearing the the vehicle's 3-point seat belt, the suit says, Dockery sustained serious injuries.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to provide proper restraint throughout the entire accident, failed to distribute and channel energy and failed to prevent post-crash fires.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury, judgment for actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of suit and all other relief the court deems proper. They are represented by attorneys E. Todd Tracy, Stewart D. Matthews and Andrew G. Counts of The Tracy Firm in Dallas.
