HOUSTON – An Iowa man alleges he was denied jobs in Houston because of his race and age.

Jason R. Ndremizara filed a complaint on Oct. 7 in the Victoria Division of the Southern District of Texas against American International Group alleging discrimination and retaliation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff, a 49-year-old African-American man, alleges that for a period of eight years, he applied for several actuarial positions with the defendant and that despite possessing the requisite qualifications, he was denied employment because of his race and age. He alleges he was caused to suffer past and future monetary damages and emotional distress. The plaintiff holds American International Group responsible because the defendant allegedly hired five younger Caucasian American candidates and one Asian candidate with less actuarial certifications.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for future lost wages and benefits, $300,000 for emotional anguish, $300,000 for punitive damages, attorney's fees and costs, and all other equitable relief. He is representing himself.
