HOUSTON — A construction worker is suing Detsco Inc., a former employer, citing alleged violation of workers compensation acts.
John Stevenson filed a complaint on Oct. 12, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Detsco Inc. alleging that the former employer violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during one or more weeks of his employment with defendant, he worked overtime hours without receiving proper compensation. The plaintiff holds Detsco Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay him one and one-half times his regular rate of pay for each hour worked in excess of 40 per week.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for unpaid wages, as well as liquidated damages, attorney’s fees, pre- and post-judgment interest and such further relief as the court finds just. He is represented by Ike Okorafor of Ike Okorafor, Attorney at Law in Houston.
