Electric service provider accuses competitor, ex-employees of interference

Contract 05

HOUSTON — An electric service provider is suing a competitor and former employees, alleging tortious interference with a contract.

Champion Energy Services LLC filed a lawsuit Oct. 19 in Harris County District Court against Eric Flores of Katy, Texas, Tristan Jones and New Era Power LLC,  alleging wrongful interference with the plaintiff's business contract.

According to the complaint, Champion Energy has suffered and will continue to suffer irreparable monetary injury for the loss of business unless and until the defendants are enjoined from their wrongful conduct.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants took possession of Champion Energy's proprietary and confidential information for their own gain and encouraged the plaintiff's customers to breach their contractual duties with Champion and enter into an agreement with another retail electric provider.

Champion Energy Services seeks trial by jury, a temporary restraining order enjoining the defendants from using and/or destroying the plaintiff's confidential information and from encouraging the plaintiff's current customers to cancel their contract with Champion and/or to switch to another provider, litigation expenses and all other relief. He is represented by attorney Andrew Edison of Edison McDowell & Hetherington LLP in Houston.
