Visitor blames Galveston educational/leisure facilities for injuries

Slip01

HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a Galveston educational/leisure facility, alleging the defendant's negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Vera Patterson filed a lawsuit Nov. 3 in Harris County District Court against Moody Gardens Inc., alleging failure to exercise ordinary care to protect its guests.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 6, 2014, Patterson was at the Moody Gardens Festival of Lights looking at different light displays. The suit says she tripped over a reflector that was placed in the middle of the sidewalk, causing serious and disabling injuries that resulted in past and future physical and mental pain, embarrassment, loss of earnings and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Moody Gardens negligently created and allowed the existence of the dangerous condition and failed to warn the public of the existence of the reflector on the sidewalk.

Patterson seeks trial by jury, damages between $100,000 and $200,000, costs of court, pre- and post-judgment interest, plus all other legal and equitable relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by attorney Adam P. Criaco of Criaco & Associates in Houston.
