GALVESTON — A Hispanic female is suing a University of Texas medical branch, alleging discrimination, hostile work environment, and retaliation.

Erica Ramos of Texas City filed a lawsuit Nov. 11 in Galveston County District Court against University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston alleging violation of the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, Ramos, who began working for the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston in 1997, was treated less favorably and was evaluated with false and untrue information. The suit says Ramos has suffered grievous harm, including substantial loss of income, humiliation and embarrassment, damage to her credibility and to her prospects for future employment.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant subjected her to adverse employment actions, discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment, retaliation and constructive termination.

Ramos seeks trial by jury all damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees, costs of court and all relief to which she is justly entitled. She is represented by attorneys Gregg M. Rosenberg and Ellen Sprovach of Rosenberg & Sprovach in Houston.
