Buyer accuses property owners of theft

HOUSTON — A Magnolia man is suing a Spring couple, alleging breach of contract and theft of property.

Ryan Phillips filed a lawsuit Nov. 16 in Harris County District Court against Liese Borden & James Roland Borden, alleging violation of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

According to the complaint, Phillips suffered monetary injury for incurring expenses of $116,943.27 for the repair and rehabilitation costs for the defendants' damaged property in Spring. 

The plaintiff alleges the Bordens failed to appear at the closing, refused to sell the property and refused to pay insurance proceeds for the repair work done for all the flood damage .

Phillips seeks trial by jury, all damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs and all other proper relief. He is represented by attorneys Leslie Wm. Adams, Ling E. Dai and Benjamin Feltner of Leslie Wm. Adams & Associates in Houston.
