Employee blames Home Depot for injuries at work

Slip02

HOUSTON — A Seabrook woman is suing Home Depot, alleging the defendant's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Linda Sue Ruthsrom filed a lawsuit Nov. 17 in Harris County District Court against The Home Depot Store No. 6985 in Houston, Ward Dahl and The Home Depot USA Inc., alleging failure to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 28, 2015, Ruthsrom came to work at the Home Depot store at 8400 Katy Freeway, Houston, as requested by her employer. While walking through the store, the suit says, her foot became entangled in plastic debris that caused her to fall and sustain painful injuries, physical disfigurement, mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to eliminate the dangerous condition, failed to warn her of the hazards of her employment and failed to properly train and supervise Home Depot employees in preventing and eliminating the dangerous condition.

Ruthsrom seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest, penalties, costs of litigation and all other relief. She is represented by attorneys Daniel J. Christensen and Laura P. Ramos of Christensen Law Firm PLLC in Austin.
