Patient blames medical providers for injuries

Medical malpractice 09

BEAUMONT — A Jefferson County woman is suing Port Arthur health care providers, alleging their negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Josephine Brown Gooden filed a complaint Dec. 8 in Jefferson County District Court against Dr. Jodi M. Brannen and Permian Premier Health Services Inc., doing business as a Southeast Texas Physicians Group, alleging they failed to offer a less risky medical procedure to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, in 2015, Gooden suffered physical injuries as the result of a hysterectomy. The plaintiff alleges the defendants performed the medical procedure on the plaintiff and discharged Gooden despite her having complications.

Gooden seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, damages, interest, legal fees and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney Craig Lewis and Heather E. Hall of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
