HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a Houston grocery store operator, alleging its negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.
Maria Salazar filed a lawsuit Nov. 23 in Harris County District Court against Sellers Bros. Inc., doing business as Sellers Brothers Market, alleging breach of duty of ordinary care in maintaining a clean store.
According to the complaint, on Nov. 28, 2014, Salazar was shopping at the defendant's store, 9494 Hammerly Blvd. Houston, when she slipped and fell on a substance on the floor determined to be green beans. As a result, the suit says, Salazar suffered severe injuries to her back, legs, left knee and shoulders that required medical expenses of $31,868.64, plus mental anguish, pain and suffering.
The plaintiff alleges Sellers Brothers Market negligently permitted the slippery substance on the floor and failed to post warning signs in the area where the green beans spilled.
Salazar seeks trial by jury, judgment for all damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs, attorney fees and all other relief. She is represented by attorney Jimmy N. Bowden of The Law Offices of Tuan Khuu & Associates in Houston.
