GALVESTON — A female store manager is suing Walmart, alleging race and gender discrimination.

Marva Hargrove of Houston filed a lawsuit Nov. 30 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Walmart, alleging violations of Title I and Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, on April 8, Hargrove, who had worked for Walmart since 1996, was terminated from her position as store manager at the Pearland Walmart. The suit says this caused her to experience adverse employment effects, mental and emotional pain and suffering, anguish, distress, embarrassment and humiliation.

The plaintiff alleges Walmart unlawfully discriminated against Hargrove by subjecting her to adverse employment actions and termination of employment.

Hargrove seeks trial by jury, compensation for all damages, attorney fees, court costs and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by attorney Sadiqa (Sadie) Banks of The Banks Law Group PC in Houston.
