Nursing assistant blames Methodist Hospital for her injuries

Medical malpractice 02

HOUSTON — A Harris County nursing assistant is suing a Houston hospital, alleging the defendant's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Nora Garcia filed a lawsuit Nov. 29 in Harris County District Court against The Houston Methodist Hospital, alleging the defendant failed to comply with the safety regulations and practices.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 5, 2014, Garcia severely injured her shoulder while moving a patient at the hospital. The suit says she has experienced physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish, pain and suffering and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges The Houston Methodist Hospital failed to provide adequate staff to assist in moving the patient and failed to provide necessary equipment to safely move the patient.

Garcia seeks trial by jury, more than $1 million, pre- and post judgment interest, costs of court and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorneys Clyde "Chip" Adams and Michael E. Pierce of Pierce Skrabanek Bruera PLLC in Houston.
