Air conditioner installer blames property owners, contractor for injuries

GALVESTON — An A/C technical installer is suing a contractor, property owners and the city of Galveston, alleging their negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff. 

Glenn Martindale of Galveston, individually and on behalf of his children, HMT and JBT, filed a lawsuit Dec. 5 in Galveston County District Court against Brent R. Ballard, Eddie Taylor, Debbie Taylor, Affordable Air and Heat, America's Home Place Inc, the city of Galveston, et al, alleging they failed to exercise reasonable care owed the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, on May 12, Martindale was on a metal ladder, hanging vent covers on the exterior of the defendants' property at 4210 Sand Piper Lane, Galveston, when the ladder was magnetically pulled to the city of Galveston power line. The suit says the the power line sent 7,000 volts of electricity through Martindale's body, leading to severe injuries. mental anguish and medical expenses. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide a reasonably safe place to work, failed to provide safe equipment for the job and failed to properly supervise worker's activity.

Martindale seeks trial by jury, judgment for damages in an amount within the jurisdictional limits of the court, exemplary damages, interest, costs of court and for all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Diane K. Shaw of Shaw & Associates PC in Dallas.
