HOUSTON – A former television station employee alleges that she was discriminated against and ultimately terminated because she is white.
Nina Ridge filed a lawsuit against Fox Television Stations, Inc.; Fox Television Stations, LLC; and KRIV on Dec. 22 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas.
The defendants employed Ridge from February to November 2014.
Per Ridge, the respondents favored her non-white colleagues. As an assignment editor, the suit explains, the plaintiff received less desirable assignments from Assistant Manager Crystal Solomon.
Ridge was singled out in regards to the tardiness policy while two other assignment editors, who are black, arrived late multiple times without reprisal, the original petition says.
The suit further asserts that the plaintiff received less pay, as well as received harsher discipline than her non-white counterparts.
Ridge states that she complained about the discriminatory treatment only to be fired.
“Ridge was wrongfully terminated by Defendants because of her race and in retaliation for complaining about racial discrimination,” the complaint says.
“After her termination, Ridge was replaced by an African-American employee.”
Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
She is represented by attorneys Nasim Ahmad and Dwain Capodice of the law firm Ahmad and Capodice PLLC in The Woodlands.
