GALVESTON — A Galveston County man is suing local property owners, alleging their negligence led to the plaintiff being injured by a faulty garage door.

Effren Williams filed a lawsuit Dec. 5 in Galveston County District Court against Pass409, Anna Allebach and Paul Henry Douglas Schmidt, alleging failure to exercise ordinary care to provide a reasonably safe habitat.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 5, Williams sustained serious and debilitating injuries while opening the garage door at the defendants' premises at 5125 Avenue S, Galveston. The suit says Williams experienced pain and suffering, mental anguish, diminished earning capacity and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to take any actions to repair the defective door and failed to provide adequate warnings near the garage door.

Williams seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest, costs of court and all other proper relief. He is represented by attorneys Jose R. Guerrero and David Salazar of Salazar Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
