Passenger blames American Airlines for injuries

HOUSTON — A British passenger is suing American Airlines, alleging the air carrier's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff. 

Hazel Timpe filed a lawsuit Dec. 9 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against American Airlines Inc., alleging failure to take all necessary measures to prevent injuries to its passengers.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 16, 2014, Timpe she was a passenger on US Airways flight 2863 from London to Philadelphia to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The suit says upon takeoff from Philadelphia, Timpe's seat collapsed backward causing injuries to her back and neck that required continued medical treatment. 

The plaintiff alleges American Airlines failed to discover and remedy the existence of the dangerous condition.

Timpe seeks trial by jury, compensation in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus costs of suit. She is represented by attorney Haroen Cahler of Cahler & Associates in Houston.
