HOUSTON — Two Harris County parents are suing medical care providers, alleging the defendants' negligence caused kidney damage to their son.

Monique and Jordan Corcovelos, individually and as guardians of Korbyn Corcovelos filed a complaint Dec. 27 in Harris County District Court against Dr. Bassem Maximos and Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Harris County, alleging they negligently ignored the ultrasound which noted Korbyn Corcovelos' abnormal kidneys and cyst.

According to the complaint, as a result of the defendants' negligence, Korbyn Corcovelos' kidneys have been permanently damaged and will require a transplant when his weight reaches the maximum required for transplant surgery. The suit says the Corcoveloses were caused to suffer severe emotional distress and medical expenses.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to inform them about the ultrasound result of Oct. 30, 2014, that showed Korbyn Corcovelos has kidney abnormalities or cysts and failed to order proper procedures to save his kidneys after he was born.

The Corcoveloses seek trial by jury, judgment for their damages, plus interest, costs of court and all other equitable relief. They are represented by attorney Josh P. Davis of Josh Davis Law Firm in Houston.
