HOUSTON — A Houston woman is suing Wells Fargo, alleging unlawful employment practices and discrimination.
Maha Sheikh filed a lawsuit Dec. 28 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Wells Fargo Bank NA and Wells Fargo Bank Texas NA, et al, alleging violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 11, 2015, Sheikh, an Indian-Pakistani who began working for Wells Fargo in 2012, was terminated from her employment, leading to lost wages and compensatory damages, including emotional distress.
The plaintiff alleges Wells Fargo denied her reasonable accommodation and subjected her to racial and disability discrimination, harassment, retaliation and termination for engaging in a protected activity.
Sheikh seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, injunctive and affirmative relief, attorney fees and costs and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Bruce A. Coane of Coane and Associates PLLC in Houston.
