HOUSTON — A Harris County woman has filed a class-action lawsuit against KPMG LLP, citing alleged violation of workers compensation acts.

Bernadette Meadows filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against KPMG, alleging that the accounting firm willfully violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, Meadows alleges that she routinely worked 42 to 44 hours a week without being paid overtime for all hours worked in over 40. She holds KPMG responsible because the defendant allegedly categorized her as seasonal employee, prohibited her to record any hours worked beyond the first 40 and deprived her of health insurance benefits.

Meadows requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, an injunction restraining defendant from destroying or altering any payroll records, attorneys’ fees and costs and all further legal, equitable or injunctive relief. She is represented by Salar Ali Ahmed of Ali S. Ahmed PC in Houston.
