HOUSTON – A woman’s 2015 death from mesothelioma has prompted her spouse and her eldest son to pursue legal action.

Arizona resident Jeffrey Hedspeth and South Carolina resident Robert M. Johnson, Jr. are suing El Paso Natural Gas Co., L.L.C.; Ameron International Corp.; Triplex Inc.; and Vertellus Specialties, Inc. in the Harris County 281st District Court.

Court papers filed Feb. 8 explain that Mitzi R. Hedspeth contracted the disease as a result of exposure to asbestos. Per her estate, household contact from her father, a former EPNG employee, led to said exposure.

“Such exposure occurred in the states of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona,” the suit says.

Mitzi R. Hedspeth passed away on May 18, 2015.

Consequently, her survivors seek unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Attorney Ian P. Cloud of the law firm Robins Cloud LLP in Houston is representing Mitzi R. Hedspeth’s estate.
