BEAUMONT — Two Jefferson County men are suing their former employers, alleging a hostile work environment and racial discrimination.

Charles Martin and Ardre Neal filed a complaint Jan. 24 in the Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Team Industrial Services Inc. and TEAMQUALSPEC, alleging violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, as a result of the defendants' unlawful discriminatory treatment, Martin and Neal, both black technicians, were not able to receive substantial pay increases and benefits and were terminated from their employment because of their racial views.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants discriminated against them and subjected them to a hostile work environment and adverse employment actions.

Martin and Neal seek trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages of $5 million, reinstatement to their rightful positions, court costs and attorney fees, plus all other proper relief. They are represented by attorney Victoria Plante-Northington of Houston.
