HOUSTON — An Alvin woman is suing automobile dealers, alleging misleading and deceptive trade practices.
Billie J. Laboyd filed a complaint Jan. 27 in the Harris County District Court against AutoNation Chevrolet Gulf Freeway, AutoNation Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Spring, et al, alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
According to the complaint, on Jan 25, 2016, AutoNation sold a 2012 Nissan Juke SV to Laboyd and represented that the vehicle was pre-certified, in excellent condition and had no mechanical/engine issues. As a result of the defendants' misrepresentations, the suit says, Laboyd has suffered pecuniary losses, mental pain and distress.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants concealed and/or failed to disclose material facts that the vehicle did not meet the high standard of Nissan's manufacturer program and had major mechanical defects and engine issues.
Laboyd seeks trial by jury, actual and economic damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and court costs and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Daniel F. Crowder of Crowder Law Firm in Houston.
