HOUSTON — A Tarrant County woman is suing Houston Methodist Hospital, alleging the hospital's negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.
Elizabeth Lopez filed a complaint Feb. 10 in Harris County District Court against Houston Methodist Hospital, alleging the hospital breached its duty to use ordinary care in making its premises reasonably safe.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 11, 2015, Lopez entered Houston Methodist for the purpose of visiting a patient when she suddenly slipped and fell due to a slippery substance found on the floor. As a result, the suit says, Lopez suffered physical injuries, mental anguish, loss of earnings and medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges Houston Methodist Hospital failed to properly inspect and maintain the flooring area, failed to give adequate and understandable warnings to Lopez of the unsafe condition of the flooring area and failed to provide adequate lighting for the area in question.
Lopez seeks trial by jury, judgment of up to $1 million for damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys James M. Lassiter III and Timothy M. McHale of Lassiter Law Firm in Houston.
