Payroll processor accuses tax credit business operator of defamation

HOUSTON — A payroll processor is suing a tax credit business operator,alleging defamation and business disparagement.

James Mackay of Hudson, New Hampshire, and Savant LLC filed a complaint March 20 in Harris County District Court against Paradigm National Consulting LP, doing business as HIREtech and Saqib Dhanani, alleging they tortiously interfered with the plaintiffs' business, contracts and business relationships.

According to the complaint, due to the defendants' conducts, Mackay, who used to work for HIREtech, and Savant have suffered monetary damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court. The plaintiffs allege the defendants allegedly broadcast to third parties that the plaintiffs have committed crimes, including theft.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, damages of more than $200,000 and all other equitable relief. They are represented by attorney Ken Hughes of Hughes Roch LLP in Houston.
