HOUSTON – A Houston law firm secured a temporary restraining order against an attorney who used to practice for it, according to recent Harris County District Court records.
Matthews Lawson McCutcheon & Joseph PLLC was awarded the TRO against Erik J. Osterrieder on Mar. 24 from a state judge.
MLMJ sued Osterrieder and his firm, Osterrieder, LLC, on Mar. 23 on allegations the defendants misappropriated personal and confidential information of its clients.
The lawsuit asserts that Osterrieder re-established or continued to operate his private firm with an intention to steal clients from MLMJ while still employed full-time with the complainant.
Osterrieder purportedly signed an employment agreement with MLMJ and agreed to maintain the confidentiality of its trade secrets.
The 3-page TRO orders the respondents to cease and desist from the activities they are accused of, as well as return any and all client-related information Osterrieder obtained as an employee of MLMJ.
A hearing on MLMJ’s application for temporary injunction is scheduled for Apr. 7 at 11 a.m.
