HOUSTON — A black Houston man is suing a Pennsylvania company, alleging racial discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Thomas El-Shabazz filed a complaint on March 15, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Victaulic Company of Easton, Pennsylvania, alleging violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, after El-Shabazz filed a complaint of racial harassment, Victaculic placed him on an unwanted performance improvement plan and he was ultimately discharged from his employment.

The plaintiff alleges Victaulic subjected him to racial discrimination, harassment and termination in retaliation for his complaints of harassment at the hands of coordinator April Baugh-Chears.

El-Shabazz seeks trial by jury, actual and compensatory damages, plus interest, costs of court and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Ike Okorafor of Houston.
