SHERMAN — A former senior vice provost is suing the University of North Texas, alleging deprivation of constitutional rights.

Yolanda Flores Niemann of Denton County filed a complaint March 24, in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against University of North Texas, alleging violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, in 2015, as a result of North Texas' discriminatory practices, Niemann was removed from her position as senior academic vice provost and returned to the faculty. The suit says Niemann did not receive even 75 percent of the salary she had earned as an administrator.

The plaintiff alleges the university intentionally subjected her to unlawful discriminatory practices and disparate treatment because she is a Hispanic woman of Mexican descent.

Niemann seeks trial by jury, reinstatement and/or front pay, compensatory and exemplary damages, attorney fees, court costs and all other relief. She is represented by attorney Michael Hindman of Hindman/Bynum PC in Dallas.
