HOUSTON — A Texas man is suing a Houston apartment owner, alleging its negligence led to him suffering gunshot wounds in the apartment parking lot.

Victor Cedillo filed a complaint April 4 in Harris County District Court against Ashford Louvre LP, alleging failure to to provide a safe environment.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 4, 2015, Cedillo was in his vehicle in the parking lot of defendant's Ashford Santa Fe Apartments in southwest Houston when he was shot three times by an assailant. The suit says Cedillo spent substantial time in a hospital, may not recover from his wounds, and has suffered medical expenses, pain and suffering and mental anguish.

The plaintiff alleges Ashford Louvre failed to provide adequate and effective security systems.

Cedillo seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million and all just and equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Michael E. Pierce and M. Paul Skrabanek of Pierce Skrabanek Bruera PLLC in Houston.
