HOUSTON — A flight attendant is suing United Airlines and other Houston airport operators, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Vanessa Cheatmen filed a complaint April 3 in Harris County District Court against United Airlines Inc., Westfield Concession Management Inc., GCA Services Group Inc. and Star Concessions Ltd., alleging they breached their duty to exercise reasonable care to avoid harm to business invitees.

According to the complaint, on July 12, 2015, Cheatman was walking in the food court of Terminal B of the George W. Bush Intercontinental Airport when she slipped on a greasy substance on the floor. The suit says Cheatman sustained injuries to her left knee and shoulder.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to maintain a safe area and failed to warn the plaintiff of the existence of a dangerous condition.

Cheatman seeks trial by jury, monetary damages between $200,000 and $1 million and all equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Robert L. Woods of The Woods Law Firm PC in Houston, and by Marrick Armstrong and Ghazal A. Vahora of Smith Reed & Armstrong PLLC in Pearland.
