GALVESTON — A Galveston County homeowner is suing a local construction business, alleging breach of duty and negligent misrepresentation.

Terry Sablatura filed a complaint April 6 in Galveston County District Court against Ronald Hansen, doing business as Sandcastle Construction, alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 17, 2014, the parties entered into a residential construction contract to build Sablatura's home in Galveston County for $47,968.80. As a result of Sandcastle's negligence, the suit says, the plaintiff's home was damaged, and mold subsequently grew on the walls.

The suit says Sablaturahas has spent more than $44,000 to return the home to a habitable condition. The plaintiff alleges Sandcastle Construction failed to properly install the air conditioning unit and failed to consult a mold remediation company to resolve the mold problem.

Sablatura seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000 and all equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Christopher L. Johnson and Justin M. Kornegay of Johnson & Crew PLLC in League City.
