HOUSTON — A female employee is suing drilling businesses, alleging gender discrimination and retaliation.

Ratna Vijayananda filed a complaint May 10 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Drillmec Inc., Drillmec Drilling Technologies, Trevi Group LLC, Summit Services Inc. and TriNet Inc., alleging violation of the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act and the Equal Pay Act.

According to the complaint, during Vijayananda's employment with the defendants, she was paid less than the male managers for comparable work, was denied an annual raise and was terminated from her employment April 11, 2015. She says she has suffered and will continue to suffer loss of wages, emotional pain, mental anguish and inconvenience.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants discriminated against her regarding her pay, retaliated and terminated Vijayananda for raising concerns about her discriminatory pay.

Vijayananda seeks trial by jury, economic, punitive and compensatory damages, attorney fees, costs of court, interest and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Nasim Ahmad and Dwain Capodice of Ahmad & Capodice PLLC in The Woodlands.
