Plumbing designer alleges former employer failed to pay overtime

Law money 04

HOUSTON — A plumbing designer has filed a class action lawsuit against his former employer, alleging violation of workers compensation acts in failing to pay overtime.

Garett Beck filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, May 1 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Jordan & Skala Engineers Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, between Sept. 9, 2015 and March 2017, Beck regularly worked more than 40 hours a week but was not paid overtime compensation. The plaintiff alleges Jordan & Skala unlawfully implemented a policy of not compensating its employees for any extra hours worked in a 40-hour week, unless they worked a minimum of 90 hours for an 80-hour pay period. After 90 hours, the suit says, the employees were paid straight time.

Beck seeks trial by jury, unpaid wages, liquidated damages, court costs and attorney fees and all other proper and just relief. He is represented by attorneys Gregg M. Rosenberg and Tracey D. Lewis of Rosenberg & Sprovach in Houston.
