Worker blames fiber company for injuries

HOUSTON — A Uvalde man is suing his employer, alleging its negligence caused him to fall and suffer injuries.

Roberto Rodriguez filed a complaint May 5 in Harris County District Court against Cedar Fiber Company Inc., alleging failure to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 6, Rodriguez was climbing a cedar tank as instructed by his superior, when he lost his balance and fell face first to the concrete floor below. The suit says he sustained severe injuries that required medical treatment, pain and suffering, loss of earnings and medical expenses.

Rodriguez alleges Cedar Fiber failed to enforce and ensure safety regulations and failed to provide proper safety equipment for the job.

Rodriguez seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million, and all other general and special relief. He is represented by attorneys Langdon Smith and Michael Gomez of Jim S. Adler & Associates in Houston.
