Jefferson County patient accuses medical care providers of negligence

Medical malpractice 08

BEAUMONT — A Jefferson County patient is suing Beaumont medical care providers, alleging their negligence led to permanent injuries for the plaintiff.

Jeffrey Nagos filed a lawsuit April 26 in Jefferson County District Court against Dr. J. Denton Harris IV, Southeast Texas Urology Associates LLP, Dr. Emmett R. Mackan and Southeast Texas Surgical Associates PA, alleging they breached their duty to exercise reasonable care for the safety of the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, on May 4, 2015, Nagos was severely and permanently injured after Harris attempted to perform a robotic-assisted prostatectomy on the plaintiff. Nagos says he was still suffering from severe pain that has not been controlled by medications.

The plaintiff alleges during the operation, Harris negligently injured and perforated Nagos' colon.

Nagos seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million and all just and equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Craig Lewis and Heather E. Hall of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
