Former SGS employee alleges she was terminated in retaliation

Wrongful term 07

BEAUMONT – A woman alleges she was terminated in retaliation for her complaints of sexual harassment.

Erica Duncan filed a complaint on May 11 in the Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas against SGS Oil, Gas and Chemicals Services Division of SGS North American Inc. alleging sexual harassment, retaliation and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendants in August 2016 in the operations department. She alleges her male co-workers frequently used vulgar and inappropriate and made numerous sexual remarks to female employees. She alleges she reported the behavior to the defendant's human resources department, told her allegations were not substantiated on Feb. 21, and that she was terminated two days later.

The plaintiff holds SGS Oil, Gas and Chemicals Services Division of SGS North American Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to the correct the discriminatory acts.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for actual and punitive damages, together with costs, attorney's fees and all the relief which the court deems just and proper. She is represented by David P. Wilson of Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
