Couple blames doctor for husband's injuries

Medical malpractice 01

HOUSTON — A Baytown couple is suing a doctor, alleging her negligence led to injuries for the husband.

Michael Mixon and Lorrie Mixon filed a complaint May 16 in Harris County Circuit Court against Dr. Monira Hamid-Kundi, alleging she failed to provide proper medical care to Michael Mixon.

According to the complaint, Michael Mixon was physically injured due to a post-operative wound infection following a partial colectomy March 2, 2015 in Altius Baytown Hospital. The plaintiffs allege Hamid-Kundi failed to treat Mixon's infection to prevent it from getting worse.

The Mixons seek trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $1 million, pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs and all other equitable relief. They are represented by attorneys Charles R. Houssiere, II and Randal A. Kauffman of Houssiere, Durant & Houssiere LLP in Houston.
