HOUSTON – A homeowner and disabled tenant alleges that a homeowners association is discriminating against them.

Manju Mani and Isaac Stinson, by and through his legal guardian Jim Stinson, filed a complaint on May 22 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Willow Meadows Civic Club Inc. alleging that the homeowners association violated the Fair Housing Act.

According to the complaint, Mani owns the Houston group home where Isaac Stinson resides as a tenant and that the defendant operates the homeowners association where the home is located.

The plaintiffs hold Willow Meadows Civic Club Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly is discriminating against and trying to shut down the home.

The plaintiffs seek an order for defendant to grant the reasonable accommodation request made by co-plaintiffs, award for monetary damages, attorney fees and costs and such additional relief as the interests of justice may require.

They are represented by Mark Whitburn and Sean Pevsner of Whitburn & Pevsner PLLC in Arlington, Rachel B. Cohen-Miller and Christopher P. McGreal of Disability Rights Texas in Dallas and Sean A. Jackson of Disability Rights Texas in Houston.
