Tenant blames management companies for mold damage

HOUSTON — A former Harris County resident is suing the managers of a Houston apartment complex, alleging breach of a lease agreement in failing to remove mold.

Sheri Goodman of Santa Fe, New Mexico, filed a complaint May 22 in Harris County District Court against Inverness GFFG LLC, doing business as The Inverness Apartments, GFMC LLC, GF Properties Group LLC and Greystar Management Services LP, alleging they breached their duty to perform their obligations under the contract.

According to the complaint, Goodman suffered loss of home and personal property and also experienced medical issues related to mold exposure. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide her with a healthy and safe home and retaliated against her by refusing to investigate the mold problem or help relocate her to another unit.

Goodman seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million and all other equitable relief. She is representing herself.
