Customer alleges Honda manufacturing defect caused injuries

MARSHALL — A Lindale woman is suing Honda, alleging a manufacturing defect led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Tiffani Wickel filed a complaint May 23 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against American Honda Motor Co. Inc., and Honda Motor Company Ltd., alleging failure to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 18, 2016, Wickel sustained serious injuries when her 2016 Honda Fit failed to protect her when another motorist struck her vehicle on South Main Street in Lindale. Th suit says Wickel, who was wearing a seat belt, experienced pain and suffering, emotional distress, reduced capacity to enjoy life and medical expenses. 

The plaintiff alleges Honda failed to provide a crash-worthy vehicle and failed to conduct proper testing and engineering analysis during the design and development of the vehicle.

Wickel seeks trial by jury, actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of suit and all other general and special relief. She is represented by attorneys E. Todd Tracy, Stewart D. Matthews and Andrew G. Counts of The Tracy Firm in Dallas.
