Motorist blames Houston school district for causing crash

Car accident 17

HOUSTON — A motorist is suing the Houston school district, alleging a district employee caused a vehicle crash that injured the plaintiff.

Eugene Alvarez filed a complaint May 23 in Harris County District Court against the Houston Independent School District,  alleging an HISD employee failed to maintain proper control of the school bus he was driving.

According to the complaint, on March 28, 2016, Alvarez sustained injuries and damages when an HISD school bus driven by HISD employee Charles Quinten Mensah Jr. negligently crashed into the back of Alvarez's vehicle at Cavalcade and Fulton Street in Houston. Alvarez says he suffered physical and mental pain, medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff alleges the HISD employee failed to maintain proper lookout for other vehicles and failed to control his speed at the intersection.

Alvarez seeks trial by jury, damages in accordance with evidence, plus interest, costs of court and all other general and equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Sam K. Mukerji, Jonathan E. Bleyer and Winfield S. Williams of Mukerji Law Firm PC in Houston.
